The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines has applauded the recent statement by the G7 Foreign Ministers, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to the rule of law and sustainable economic development in the South China Sea

The "Statement on Addressing Global Challenges, Fostering Partnership" reaffirms the importance of upholding the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the binding Arbitral Award of 2016.

In the statement, the Philippines welcomes the G7's rejection of China's unfounded claims and its call for the cessation of illegal activities.

The DFA underscores the significance of respecting international law, particularly in safeguarding maritime entitlements and ensuring freedom of navigation.

Furthermore, the Philippines echoes the G7's vision for a stable Indo-Pacific region and pledges to stand against any actions that threaten international security. In alignment with the G7's economic initiatives, the Philippines welcomes investments under the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment.

The DFA highlights the strategic importance of the Luzon Economic Corridor in driving inclusive and sustainable development, expressing readiness to collaborate with the G7 for economic growth in the region.
