NGCP Issues Alerts As Luzon Grid Faces Power Supply Challenges:

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has raised Yellow and Red Alerts, signaling critical shortages in power supply across Luzon's grid.

The company posted this schedule in their advisory:

Yellow Alert Hours:
- 4:01 PM - 6:00 PM
- 10:01 PM (April 23, 2024) - 12:00 AM (April 24, 2024)

Red Alert Hours:
- 3:01 PM - 4:00 PM
- 6:01 PM - 10:00 PM

During Red Alert periods, some areas may experience blackouts. The grid status update reveals an Available Capacity of 12,832MW against a Peak Demand of 12,671MW, indicating a precarious balance.

Automatic Load Dropping (ALD)

- LUELCO (parts of La Union): Out 3:31PM, In: 3:45PM (14 mins)
- TARELCO II (parts of Tarlac): Out: 3:31PM, In: 3:46PM (15 mins)
- CASURECO I & CASURECO II (parts of Camarines Sur): Out: 3:30PM, In: 3:45PM (15 mins)

Manual Load Dropping (MLD)

- ISELCO 1 (parts of Isabela): Out: 3:40PM, In: 4:42PM (1hr and 2mins)
- SFELAPCO: Out: 3:41PM, In: 4:51PM (1hr and 10 mins)

Red Alerts are declared when power supply falls short of consumer demand and transmission grid regulations. Yellow Alerts indicate insufficient operating margins to meet contingency requirements.
