President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has made a decisive move regarding the proposal to increase fines for illegal parking, emphasizing the importance of discipline over penalties in addressing traffic issues.

The President expressed his stance, stating, “Isinantabi muna natin ang panukalang itaas ang multa sa illegal parking dahil naniniwala tayong may kakayahan ang Bagong Pilipino na maging disiplinado!” (We have set aside the proposal to raise fines for illegal parking because we believe in the ability of the New Filipino to be disciplined!)

The proposal in question, outlined in Joint Traffic Circular No. 01 of the Metro Manila Council, sought to elevate fines for illegal parking from ₱1,000 to ₱4,000, but President Marcos Jr. opted to maintain the fine at ₱1,000.

“While understanding the intention behind the proposal, I’ve decided to prioritize discipline over penalties. Ang Bagong Pilipino ay disiplinado. By focusing on individual responsibility we can create long-lasting solutions to our traffic challenge,” President Marcos Jr. further emphasized.
