Cooking Masters Compete At The 8th Las Piñas Food Festival

Cooking masters from different barangays in Las Piñas City showcased their culinary skills at the 8th Las Piñas Food Festival held at Villar Sipag in C5 Extension, Pulang Lupa Uno.

The event, initiated by Senator Cynthia Villar, aimed to promote Filipino cuisine and provide a platform for local farmers and fisherfolk to promote their products.

Addressing the participants, Villar expressed her pride in the culinary talents and heritage of Las Piñeros.

She emphasized the importance of showcasing Filipino dishes and culinary skills to the world.

Additionally, she highlighted the significance of food festivals in promoting and selling agricultural and fishery products.

Representatives from all 20 barangays in Las Piñas City participated in the festival under the theme "Nutrisyon mula sa Gulay para sa Malusog na Pamayanan" (Nutrition from Vegetables for a Healthy Community).

The participants were encouraged to create food fusion and emphasize nutritional value in their dishes.

After the competition, Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno emerged as the grand winner, winning P20,000.00 and a trophy for their entry, which included Tuna sisig with lettuce in mango sauce, mutya ng Pilipinas soup, and upo pie.

Barangay Zapote secured the first runner-up position, earning P15,000.00 and a trophy for their entry featuring laing dory fish balls, garlic soup with crispy bread croutons, and Mango with sticky rice ala mar.

Barangay Manuyo Uno claimed the second runner-up position, receiving P10,000.00 and a trophy for their tuna thermidor, pumpkin soup, and granola peach mango cheesecake.

Apart from the cooking competition, the food festival also acknowledged the winners of the urban gardening competition in different categories.

The champion in the Barangay category was Barangay Talon 4's Barangay Hall, followed by Balikatan Barangay Bf International Caa as the first runner-up and Almirante Bfrv Barangay Talon 2 as the second runner-up.

In the Home Owners Association category, Castillan Village Barangay Talon 2 took the champion spot, while Monark Village Barangay Pamplona 1 and Zone 7 Barangay Pilar secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.

Las Pinas North National High School Barangay Pulang Lupa 2 claimed the top spot in the School category, with Pulang Lupa Elementary School Barangay Pulang Lupa 1 and Caa National High School Barangay Bf International CAA as the first and second runners-up.

The event was attended by Senator Mark Villar, Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, and various local government officials, further highlighting the significance of the annual food festival in Las Piñas City.
