Magnitude 5.7 Earthquake Jolts Surigao Del Sur

A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Cagwait, Surigao Del Sur, in the Philippines on December 4, 2023, at 10:38:13 AM local time.
The earthquake's epicenter was located at 08.70°N, 127.09°E, approximately 90 km south and 74° east of Cagwait.

The earthquake, with a depth of focus of 10 km, originated from tectonic activity in the region. Instrumental intensity readings indicate Intensity II in the City of Tandag, Surigao Del Sur.

Despite the significant magnitude, there are currently no reports of damage, and authorities do not anticipate aftershocks.
