More Than 1000 Foreign And Locals Rescued From Human Trafficking Syndicate
In a joint operation conducted on Thursday night, the Philippine National Police (PNP), alongside various government agencies, successfully rescued more than a thousand foreign nationals and Filipinos from a human trafficking syndicate in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
The operation took place at Colorful and Leap Group Company situated at Clark Sun Valley Hub on Jose Abad Santos Ave., Mabalacat City. Collaborating with the PNP were the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), Special Action Force (SAF), and Intelligence Group (IG), along with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, Department of Justice, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Bureau of Immigration, and Interagency Council on Anti-Trafficking.
The combined efforts of these agencies resulted in the successful rescue of 1,090 individuals, including foreign nationals from Hong Kong (1), Indonesia (173), China (307), Vietnam (423), Nepal (40), Malaysia (27), Thailand (6), Taiwan (2), Myanmar (12), as well as Filipinos (172).
According to initial investigations, the victims were coerced into working for a fraudulent cyber-enabled industry, exploiting their own compatriots.
Chief PNP Police General Benjamin Acorda expressed his gratitude to all the individuals involved in the operation, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of human trafficking victims.
"We will continue to collaborate closely with other agencies to ensure that those responsible for these heinous crimes are held accountable. It is crucial that we unite in the fight against human trafficking and work towards eradicating this inhumane practice," stated PGen Acorda.
He further emphasized the PNP's resolute dedication to eliminating human trafficking in the Philippines, vowing to transform the country into a secure place where both Filipinos and foreign nationals can flourish, explore, and conduct business without fear.
The rescued foreign nationals underwent documentation for processing and potential deportation proceedings.
