The North-Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Connector España Section is set to open on March 27, providing much-needed relief to motorists and commuters who have been suffering from traffic congestion in the metropolis. The project is expected to improve efficiency on the road and stimulate economic development in the region.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista expressed his appreciation for the joint effort of the Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Highways, Toll Regulatory Board, NLEX Corporation, and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation in completing the 8.0-kilometer P23.3 billion-worth NLEX Connector España Section.
The project, which is now 98 percent complete, is designed to cater to all vehicle classes including trucks, and will significantly improve the mobility of motorists.
The NLEX Connector is expected to ease traffic congestion in Manila and provide greater access to several areas in the city, including the University Belt. Cargo trucks will be able to pass through the road 24/7 without worrying about truck bans, which will enhance the operations of various businesses, especially those in the logistics sector. It is estimated that around 35,000 vehicles daily will benefit from the new road.
The project is a crucial part of the government's efforts to support economic growth while allowing commuters to spend more time with their families. Secretary Bautista emphasized the importance of having an efficient road network, saying that it will result in faster delivery of goods and services.
The whole NLEX Connector stretches from Caloocan Interchange on C3 Road, Dimasalang, España Blvd., R. Magsaysay Blvd., up to the vicinity of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa, Manila, with on and off ramps at C3, España Blvd., and Ramon Magsaysay Blvd.
