P23 M Worth Of Narcotics In Parañaque Seized

Parañaque City, Philippines - In a collaborative effort, the Parañaque City Police Substation 4 personnel and the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) successfully carried out a buy-bust operation that resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of a significant amount of illegal drugs. The operation took place at Balimbing St., Phase 3, Olivarez Compound, Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City.

At approximately 2:50 AM on May 27, 2023, the authorities apprehended Jonnie Romo, a 41-year-old male fire volunteer who is believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade. Romo, also known as "Han," was taken into custody as a result of the operation.
The buy-bust operation yielded a substantial amount of evidence. The seized items included one knot-tied transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, along with seven similar sachets. Two medium-sized plastic tea bags sealed with the label "GUAR YUN WANG," one medium-sized transparent plastic sachet, a genuine ₱1000 bill on top of 139 pieces of boodle money (buy-bust money), a blue-green eco bag, a brown envelope, and a weighing scale were also confiscated.

The seized illegal drugs, suspected to be shabu, have an estimated combined weight of 3,450 grams, with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) value of ₱23,460,000.00.

Currently, Jonnie Romo alias "Han" is under the custody of the Parañaque City Police Station, where necessary documentation is being conducted. The confiscated illegal drug items will be turned over to the PNP Southern Police District Forensic Unit (SPDFU) for quantitative and qualitative analysis.

A complaint for Violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, will be filed through inquest proceedings before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Parañaque City.

He acknowledged their dedication and tireless efforts in promoting peace and order, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
