Radio Broadcaster Gunned Down In Calamba, Misamis Occidental During Live Broadcast

Radio broadcaster Juan Jumalon, known by his alias "Johnny Walker," was tragically shot dead in the early hours of Sunday, November 5, 2023, while he was hosting a live program on Calamba 94.7 Gold FM in Misamis Occidental.
The incident unfolded at around 5:35 AM inside the residence of the 57-year-old media personality located at Purok-2, Barangay Don Bernardo A. Neri, Calamba, Misamis Occidental.
According to reports, an unidentified assailant entered the radio station during the live broadcast and mercilessly shot Jumalon, leading to his untimely demise.
Calamba Municipal Police Station (MPS) swiftly responded to the scene, establishing checkpoints and launching dragnet operations to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward, emphasizing the importance of cooperation from the public to solve this heinous crime.
The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) has called for the immediate activation of a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to probe the incident. The task force expressed condolences to Jumalon's family and stressed the need for a thorough and swift investigation. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined, and the PTFoMS has cautioned against speculation, urging the media and the public to provide relevant and factual information to aid the investigation.
