In a recent weather update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the country is experiencing a complex interplay of weather systems, with a shear line affecting the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas, and the Northeast Monsoon influencing the remainder of Luzon.
Residents of Visayas, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Quezon, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga can expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The atmospheric conditions are attributed to the shear line, raising concerns for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, in Cagayan Valley and Aurora, there will be cloudy skies with light rains, courtesy of the Northeast Monsoon. Fortunately, PAGASA anticipates no significant impacts in these areas.
For Metro Manila and the remaining portions of Luzon, the forecast indicates partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. The Northeast Monsoon is in play here, though no significant impact is expected.
In Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN, residents should brace for partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. These localized thunderstorms could lead to possible flash floods or landslides during severe weather conditions.
