Tying the knot under the ‘new normal’

John and Lou Gregorio are among the couples who had to adapt to the new normal as they got married while the COVID-19 pandemic was still raging.

Instead of the aisle's majestic view and warm smiles on the guests' faces, a temperature check was the first thing to welcome Lou, the bride.

Their guests had to wear face shields and face masks inside the church. Up to two people were allowed to sit on a pew. The photo-taking session was limited to 30 minutes to limit the movement of people and to facilitate physical distancing.

"Akala ko nga walang kiss the bride pero bago umalis ang pari, saglit lang daw po pwede," Lou said.
(I thought we would not be able to kiss. But before the priest left, he said we could do it quickly.)

Lou was more worried about checkpoints on the road as they had to go all the way to the church in Angat, Bulacan where the ceremony was to be held.
