Zelenskyy, Marcos Jr Discuss About Ukraine Over Phone Call

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, said he talked with President Bongbong Marcos Jr over the phone. The call was the first discussion where the two leaders spoke directly.
During the call, President Zelenskyy thanked President Marcos for his support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The two leaders also discussed the potential for further deepening of cooperation between their nations, with a focus on international platforms.
This particular call was a further pivot of the Philippine government towards building a stronger connection with the West following a historic visit by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin earlier this month and the announcement of expanding the presence of US military personnel and bases in the country.
Russia started its full scale military operations in Ukraine last February 24, 2022.
