The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced the return of 11 Filipino crew members from the ship True Confidence, scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024. The crew members are coming back after surviving a missile attack by Houthi rebels in the Gulf of Aden on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

DMW Officer-in-Charge, Hans Leo J. Cacdac, expressed, "We are preparing a fitting welcome for our brave seafarers upon their arrival."

The returning seafarers include ten unharmed crew members and one individual who suffered minor injuries during the emergency evacuation. The injured crew member has been cleared by medical authorities as "fit for travel."

As two other Filipino crew members remain hospitalized in Djibouti City, their stable condition is closely monitored by medical professionals. They will be repatriated to the Philippines once deemed "fit for travel."

Simultaneously, recovery operations are underway to retrieve the remains of three crew members who lost their lives in the missile attack. Two of them were Filipino nationals. Officer Cacdac stated, "We pray for the success of the salvaging operation so that the remains of our two fallen seafarers can be repatriated. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with their families."

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has issued travel documents for the returning crew members, and their flight arrangements are being managed by their respective shipping and manning agencies.
