A new development has surfaced in the controversy involving Vice President Sara Duterte after the camp of self-proclaimed “bagman” Ramil Madriaga confirmed the submission of a notarized affidavit to the Office of the Ombudsman.

Madriaga’s legal counsel, Atty. Raymund Palad, said the affidavit was filed to prompt a broader investigation into the allegations raised by his client. The lawyer also urged the Ombudsman to examine three mobile phones belonging to Madriaga, which reportedly contain material evidence linked to the claims against the Vice President and other individuals.

The issue gained further attention after Malacañang weighed in, saying that anyone who holds evidence against public servants involving anomalies or the misuse of public funds should be properly investigated.

The Palace made the statement following reports that Madriaga’s affidavit had already been referred to the Ombudsman. Madriaga has publicly claimed to be the alleged “bagman” of Vice President Duterte.

Authorities have yet to release further details as the Ombudsman reviews the submission and determines the next steps in the case.
