The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) isn’t letting up in its crackdown on alleged corruption involving flood control projects. On Wednesday, it secured its seventh freeze order from the Court of Appeals (CA)—locking down even more assets linked to former government officials under investigation.

This latest order covers 45 real estate properties and 81 vehicles, including high-end sports cars, SUVs, and luxury motorcycles—believed to have been bought with public funds meant for flood control projects.

According to AMLC Executive Director Matthew David, this new order adds to a growing list of frozen assets, which already includes:
• 1,671 bank accounts
• 58 insurance policies
• 244 motor vehicles
• 144 real properties
• 12 e-wallet accounts

Altogether, these assets are now worth a staggering ₱6.3 billion—and counting.

“Our efforts have not ceased,” David assured. “We continue to pursue every lead, secure every necessary order, and hold accountable those who misuse public funds.”

The AMLC emphasized that this seventh freeze order marks a major escalation in the ongoing probe, which began after red flags were raised over suspiciously funded flood control projects.

The council is now coordinating with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure, the Office of the Ombudsman, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the National Bureau of Investigation to dig deeper into the money trail and make sure that funds meant to protect communities from floods don’t end up fueling luxury lifestyles.

From flood control to flashy cars—the AMLC says the message is clear: public funds should serve the people, not enrich the powerful.
