It’s official: Former Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. is now back in the Philippines — but this isn’t your usual homecoming.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed today, May 29, that Teves is already in the custody of Philippine authorities. According to Remulla, Teves is aboard a Philippine Air Force aircraft expected to land tonight at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.

Once on the ground, Teves will go through the usual procedures — booking and a medical checkup — before being transferred to a detention facility under the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Remulla emphasized that Teves’ security is a top priority for the Department of Justice (DOJ), saying, “His safety is one of our primary concerns.”

And what’s next? Teves won’t be waiting long. He’ll soon be facing the Manila Regional Trial Court for the next hearing, where he’ll be formally read the charges against him.

This marks a major development in one of the country’s most closely watched legal dramas — and all eyes are now on what happens next.
