ALBAY — Ashfall was reported in several areas of Camalig, Albay on Thursday, January 8, 2026, as Mayon Volcano continued to show signs of activity, local authorities confirmed.

Mayon was seen earlier in the day from Quituinan Ranch in Barangay Tinago, Camalig, with a visible haze around the summit, indicating ongoing volcanic activity. Later in the day, residents observed ashfall in Barangay Salugan, Barangay 5, and nearby communities.

Authorities advised the public to take precautionary measures, including wearing face masks or covering the nose and mouth, to avoid respiratory irritation and other health concerns linked to ash exposure.

Monitoring of Mayon Volcano remains ongoing, and residents—especially those in areas near the volcano—are urged to stay vigilant and rely only on official announcements for updates and safety instructions.
