Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has confirmed that the longstanding backlog in motorcycle plate production—a problem that has persisted for more than a decade—has finally been resolved.
In a press briefing held Tuesday, Dizon shared that the Land Transportation Office (LTO), under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has successfully cleared the 11-year delay that has affected millions of motorcycle owners since 2014.
“Finally, under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos and after 11 years, na-wipe out na natin ‘yung backlog sa motorcycle plates,” Dizon said. “This year alone, we’ve produced 5.4 million motorcycle plates. That means we’ve effectively eliminated the backlog.”
According to Dizon, the newly produced plates are now being rolled out to LTO district offices nationwide. He emphasized that motorists can expect to see improved distribution moving forward.
“Na-produce na ‘yung plates,” he added. “Right now, those plates are being distributed to LTO district offices across the country.”
To support the improved logistics, the LTO has also launched ltotracker.com, an online tracking platform where registered motorcycle owners can check the status of their plate—whether it is already at a district office or en route for delivery. The tracker is also accessible via the government’s unified eGovPH app.
This development marks a significant shift in public service delivery, particularly for millions of Filipino riders who have waited years to receive official plates for their motorcycles.
