Bataan Fishermen Find P1.5-Billion Worth Of Shabu At Sea

Ten fishermen from Bataan stumbled upon roughly 223 kilos of suspected shabu floating off the western waters of Masinloc in Zambales on May 29.
The fishermen immediately surrendered the illegal drugs to authorities. According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the methamphetamine hydrochloride—commonly known as shabu—was estimated to be worth a staggering ₱1.5 billion. It was packed in 10 sacks, containing 223 vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packets.
The head of PDEA Regional Office 3 had nothing but praise for the group, applauding their sense of civic duty. At the same time, PDEA launched a full-scale investigation to trace where the drugs came from and how they ended up adrift in open waters.
PDEA teams in Bataan and Zambales are now closely working with other law enforcement agencies and local government units to dig deeper into the case.
For now, the confiscated drugs are in PDEA custody and will undergo forensic testing and verification at the agency’s Regional Office 3 laboratory.
