Beverly Hills Police Confirm Authentic Report On Paolo Tantoco Case; Deny Claims Made In Tampered Document

NET25 News and Information has obtained an official copy of the Beverly Hills Police Department’s (BHPD) incident report on the death of Filipino businessman Paolo Tantoco — shedding light on the case and countering misinformation that has circulated in recent days.
The document, sent by BHPD in response to a public records request filed on July 15, 2025 under the California Public Records Act, confirms that Tantoco, 44, was found unconscious in his room at The Beverly Hilton hotel on the morning of March 8, 2025. The report states that hotel security was already administering CPR when police arrived and took over life-saving efforts. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at 12:05 p.m.
Notably, the report does not cite any cause of death, nor does it mention the names of other individuals allegedly being investigated in connection with the incident — including First Lady Liza Marcos-Araneta, whose name had appeared in unverified reports.
In a separate statement, BHPD Detective Chris Coulter emphasized that the department has not released such sensitive information and warned that circulating versions of the document appearing online have been tampered with. “We have determined that some of the information being reported is not accurate,” Coulter said.
The department also clarified that under California law, certain investigatory records are exempt from public disclosure, particularly those tied to ongoing investigations or sensitive intelligence. While they did release basic incident details as required by law, BHPD declined to provide additional investigative records, citing government code provisions that protect such materials.
The officially released information describes the incident as a “death investigation” that occurred at 9876 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills — the address of The Beverly Hilton — at around 11:30 a.m. on March 8.
The BHPD’s release underscores the importance of relying on verified sources and exercising caution in sharing unconfirmed reports, particularly in sensitive cases. As the investigation continues, authorities have reiterated their commitment to due process and confidentiality in accordance with the law.
For now, no official cause of death has been disclosed, and no other persons of interest have been officially named by authorities in connection to Tantoco’s passing.
