The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has thrown its full support behind Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s recent statements, saying they serve as a clear call to confront the difficult realities within the agency.

In a statement, the BFP said the corruption allegations raised by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief go beyond mere figures. According to the bureau, these claims point to a serious betrayal of public trust and the misuse of taxpayers’ money meant to ensure public safety.

The BFP acknowledged that Secretary Remulla has already gathered evidence and is preparing to file cases against those involved. The bureau said it will fully cooperate with the process and support efforts to hold accountable anyone found guilty.

To address the issue, the BFP said it has begun implementing concrete measures, including administrative relief, the suspension of certain inspection activities, and institutional changes aimed at dismantling systems that allow extortion and other forms of corruption to thrive.

At the same time, the bureau reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and standing by its firefighters, who risk their lives daily in the line of duty. It said cleansing the organization may be difficult, but it is a necessary step to restore integrity and uphold the honor of the badge.

The BFP expressed confidence that these interventions will lead to a stronger, cleaner, and more trustworthy agency moving forward.
