Brooke Van Sickle's Stellar Season Comes Full Circle With Historic MVP Win

Brooke Van Sickle didn’t just show up this PVL season — she absolutely owned it.

From the first serve to the final spike, the Petro Gazz star was a force to be reckoned with, and now, she’s getting the recognition she deserves: the very first Season MVP award at the inaugural Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night.

Van Sickle is making history again — this time as the top individual player of the entire 2024–25 PVL season. The award, presented by Arena Plus, will be handed out on May 28 at Novotel, and let’s be honest, no one’s surprised she’s taking home the top honor.

After all, she was the spark behind Petro Gazz’s fiery run that ended Creamline’s long-standing dominance in the All-Filipino Conference. It wasn’t just a title win — it was a statement. And at the heart of that was Van Sickle, who led by example, never backing down, never fading.

Stat-wise? She was untouchable.

Van Sickle tallied a weighted score of 227.6 points — calculated from 50% stats, 30% media votes, and 20% team votes — edging out Creamline standouts Bernadeth Pons and Michele Gumabao. Brooke racked up 116.3 statistical points, 66.3 from the media, and 45 from coaches and team captains. Solid. Dominant. Undeniable.

To put that in perspective: Pons came close with 205.6 points, and Gumabao trailed further behind with 151.4.

What makes Van Sickle’s campaign even more impressive is the journey she and Petro Gazz went through this season. The Angels were knocked out early in the Reinforced Conference and didn’t make waves in the mid-year Invitational. But instead of folding, they regrouped — and returned with a vengeance.

At the core of that comeback? You guessed it. Van Sickle.

Even through Petro Gazz’s ups and downs, the 27-year-old Hawaii native was a constant. Whether it was smashing down attacks or keeping things tight on defense, she did it all. And she did it well.

Her numbers in the All-Filipino Conference say it all: third overall in scoring with 349 total points (296 attacks, 30 kill blocks, and a league-best 23 aces). She also topped the league in service winners (0.38 aces per set), ranked second in spiking (36.86%), third in receiving (35.37%), and sixth in digging (2.89 digs/set).

Oh, and did we mention she also bagged Best Outside Hitter in both the Reinforced and All-Filipino Conferences? Plus a second-straight Conference MVP in the AFC?

At this point, she’s basically built her own trophy shelf.

From a quiet but powerful presence to the undisputed star of the season, Brooke Van Sickle’s PVL journey has been nothing short of legendary. And with this MVP title under her belt, she’s officially in a league of her own.
