It’s official — the Senate is getting ready to take the next big step in the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a formal letter addressed to Speaker of the House Martin Romualdez, Senate President Francis Escudero confirmed that the upper chamber is set to receive the House's prosecution panel on June 2 at exactly 4:00 PM. This is when the seven charges under the Articles of Impeachment will be read aloud in an open Senate session.

Escudero’s communication to the House emphasized that everything is in place, following the impeachment rules. It’s a major development in what’s expected to be one of the most closely watched political trials in recent history.

And things won’t be slowing down. By 9:00 AM the next day, June 3, the Senate will officially convene as an impeachment court — ready to issue summons and other relevant orders needed to move the proceedings forward.

The letter, dated May 2025, follows up on a previous notice from February 24, confirming that the Senate has long been preparing for this moment.

With this timeline now set, all eyes will be on the Senate as it begins its constitutional duty to try the sitting Vice President. What happens next could reshape the country’s political landscape in the months ahead.
