Christmas Night Blast Rocks Bacayao Norte; Two Dead And Two Hurt

Residents of Sitio Boquig in Barangay Bacayao Norte were jolted by a powerful explosion around 7:49 p.m. on Thursday, December 25.
Responders from the Bureau of Fire Protection–Dagupan, the city police, CDRRMO, PANDA Volunteer Fire Brigade, and DECORP rushed to the scene to control the situation and assist victims.
Based on the initial report, two people died while two others were injured and taken to the hospital. Authorities are still investigating what caused the explosion.
Mayor Belen Fernandez and Vice Mayor Bryan Kua personally visited the area to oversee the response, coordinate agencies on the ground, and make sure help reached affected families quickly.
“Two lives were lost on Christmas. This is a tragedy that should never have happened,” Mayor Belen said, as she again urged the public to avoid fireworks and prioritize safety. “There is no joy in fireworks if lives are at risk. We will intensify enforcement. No compromise when it comes to safety.”
Officials said more verified updates will be released as the investigation continues.
