The Commission on Elections (Comelec) officially proclaimed Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro as the duly elected Representative of Marikina City's 1st District on Tuesday, July 1, following a final resolution on pending disqualification cases.
The proclamation took place at 4:30 p.m. at the Marikina Public Market Function Hall, located beside the Office of the Election Officer in Barangay Sta. Elena. This announcement comes after the Comelec En Banc released a resolution on June 25, 2025, settling two disqualification cases — SPA No. 24-196 (DC) and SPA No. 24-224 (DC). A Certificate of Finality and Entry of Judgment, both dated July 1, confirmed the commission’s decision as final and executory.
Teodoro, who previously served as mayor of Marikina, ran for the congressional seat in the May 12, 2025 national and local elections. His proclamation had been delayed pending resolution of legal challenges, including those involving rival candidate Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III.
With the legal hurdles now resolved, Teodoro has been formally recognized as the winning candidate and is set to represent Marikina's 1st District in the House of Representatives. His return to legislative work marks a new chapter in his political career and a new phase of representation for his constituents.
Further details on Teodoro’s legislative priorities and plans for the district are expected in the coming days following his official assumption of office.
