The Department of Agriculture (DA) has initiated an investigation into the reported disappearance of millions worth of coffee seedlings aimed at revitalizing the coffee industry in the Philippines.

Concerns were recently raised by the Philippine Coffee Board regarding the non-delivery of certified seeds to coffee producers.

According to the agency, the provision of these seeds is essential for enhancing coffee production and reducing the country's dependence on coffee imports.

DA Spokesperson Asec. Arnel De Mesa stated, "Secretary Kiko Tiu-Laurel regards issues like this as significant. If a comprehensive review or further analysis is deemed necessary, it will be promptly conducted."
