As of April 1, 2024, 5 a.m., the water levels in major dams in the Philippines continue to decline, posing significant concerns for water supply management.

Angat Dam, a crucial water source, currently stands at 198.81 meters, down from 200.07 meters last week. Although still above the minimum operating level of 180 meters, the decline is notable.

Similarly, Ipo Dam's water level has dropped to 99.82 meters from 99.60 meters last week, falling below the maintaining level of 101 meters.

The decreasing water levels are attributed to the absence of rainfall in recent weeks coupled with hot weather, leading to increased water consumption.

Despite the situation, scheduled daily water service interruptions in parts of Caloocan, Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Quezon City, and Valenzuela remain suspended until further notice.

Moreover, the prevailing El Niño phenomenon in the country exacerbates the risk of reduced rainfall, further hindering the replenishment of these dams.
