Diesel Prices May Rise By Up To P5 Per Liter, Based On First 4 Days Of Global Trading - DOE
File
Motorists may once again have to tighten their belts, as the Department of Energy (DOE) projects a significant increase in fuel prices next week—especially for diesel. Based on the initial four days of trading in the global oil market, diesel prices could go up by as much as P4.80 to P5 per liter.

According to the DOE’s estimates, the anticipated price adjustments for next week are as follows:

• Gasoline: Increase of P2.60 to P3.00 per liter
• Diesel: Increase of P4.30 to P4.80 per liter
• Kerosene: Increase of P4.25 to P4.40 per liter

These projections are based on international benchmark prices and foreign exchange movements, which are key components in the weekly price adjustments implemented by local oil companies.

What It Means for Consumers

A nearly P5 per liter increase in diesel is particularly concerning, as diesel fuels the country’s public transport and logistics sectors. This may result in increased operating costs for jeepneys, buses, and delivery trucks, which could eventually translate into higher prices for basic goods and services.

Meanwhile, gasoline users—typically private vehicle owners—will also feel the pinch with an expected P3 increase per liter. Kerosene, commonly used in households and certain industries, is likewise facing a notable hike.
