The crackdown on the multibillion-peso flood control scandal intensified Monday as DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla publicly presented the mugshots of six suspects now in police custody — a clear signal that authorities are far from done hunting down the remaining fugitives.

During a briefing at Camp Crame, Remulla displayed the photos of those arrested by the PNP–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, including one suspect caught in Oriental Mindoro. He also showed the faces of several individuals still at large, among them former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, considered the most high-profile fugitive in the case.

Remulla, echoing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for swift enforcement of arrest warrants, made it clear that law enforcement will pursue every indicted individual until they are brought before the courts.

“Walang makakatakas,” he said, stressing that distance — whether local or overseas — will not shield anyone from accountability. He urged all those with outstanding warrants to surrender to the nearest authorities, calling it the most responsible move for their families and the country.

So far, eight accused individuals are in government custody: Gerald Pacanan, Gene Ryan Althea, Ruben Santos, Dominic Serrano, Felisardo Casuno, Juliet Calvo, Lerma Cayco, and Dennis Abagon.

Meanwhile, the following remain on the wanted list: Zaldy Co, Timojen Sacar, Montrexis Tamayo, Aderma Angelie Alcazar, Cesar Buenaventura, Consuelo Aldon, Noel Cao, and Anthony Ngo.

Remulla confirmed that except for Co, several of those believed to be abroad have already contacted Philippine authorities and are expected to present themselves at the nearest embassy for repatriation.

He also warned that anyone caught hiding or assisting the fugitives will face legal consequences, reminding the public that obstructing lawful orders is a criminal offense.

Joining Remulla in the briefing were PNP Acting Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, DOJ Acting Secretary Fredderick Vida, and NBI OIC Director Angelito Magno — all reaffirming the administration’s push to hold everyone involved fully accountable.

The DILG reiterated its firm stance: misused public funds will never be tolerated, and justice will be pursued completely and decisively.
