DOTr To Viral Video Uploader: 'We've Got Your Back'

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has pledged its full support and legal protection to the uploader of a viral video showing several GV Florida Transport buses allegedly racing along a highway in Cagayan. The commitment comes in light of the bus company’s threat to take legal action against the individual who captured and shared the footage.
The video, which quickly made the rounds online, raised alarm among the public and drew criticism over the safety of public transportation, particularly among provincial bus lines. It appeared to show six buses traveling at high speeds, giving the impression of a dangerous road race along the Diadi-Cordon stretch in Nueva Vizcaya.
In response, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon gave a clear message of reassurance:
“Para sa uploader ng nagkakarerang Florida buses: Wala kang dapat ikatakot dahil nasa likod mo ang buong DOTr.”
(“To the uploader of the Florida bus race video: You have nothing to fear because the DOTr stands firmly behind you.”)
Secretary Dizon emphasized that the department takes reports like this seriously and will act to ensure that road safety is upheld. More importantly, he reiterated that the DOTr is committed to protecting citizens who report abuses, negligence, or dangerous practices in the transport sector.
The controversy escalated when GV Florida Transport Inc. denied the allegations, saying the video may have been misinterpreted. In a statement, the company claimed that the footage damages its reputation and vowed to take legal action against the uploader. They also stated that internal investigations are underway and that they will provide dashcam footage and an official incident report to clarify what really transpired.
Despite this, the DOTr encouraged the public not to be intimidated by threats of litigation. Instead, it urged everyone to continue reporting reckless driving and violations that compromise commuter safety.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has repeatedly stated that public utility vehicles must prioritize the safety and comfort of passengers. This incident only further highlights the importance of holding transport providers accountable and empowering citizens to speak out.
The DOTr’s strong stance sends a clear message: Protecting whistleblowers is essential to building a safer and more responsible transport system.
