Dy Tells Zaldy Co To Stop Hiding And Come Home

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III isn’t mincing words. Responding to a series of videos released abroad by former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co, the Speaker made it clear: the country deserves answers, not remote statements.

Dy recalled that on his very first day as Speaker, he promised the public one thing — to stand with the President in cleaning up government so the country can get back on its feet. And for him, restoring public trust starts with accountability.

One of his earliest actions was canceling Co’s travel authority, instructing him to return and address the allegations against him. When Co still refused to come home, the House worked with the DOJ to speed up the cancellation of his passport through the DFA. Yet, Dy says, Co remains abroad — and continues to speak only through recorded video statements.

Meanwhile, Dy noted, every other lawmaker who has been asked to explain has shown up and cooperated fully with the Independent Congressional Investigation (ICI).
“That’s the difference,” he emphasized. “Others faced the inquiry head-on. Former Rep. Co chose to dodge it.”

Dy said Co’s videos only fuel public confusion instead of helping clear it.

“Video statements from another country aren’t enough,” he stressed. “If the accusations are serious, the response must be serious too.”

He urged Co to return, testify under oath, and present evidence before the proper authorities like the ICI. And if Co fears for his safety, Dy said the House is ready to coordinate with the necessary agencies to ensure his protection.

To the public, Dy acknowledged the frustration caused by conflicting information. “We understand you. You’re asking for the truth — and that’s exactly what we’re asking for, too.”

His final message to Zaldy Co was simple, direct, and firm: “Come home and face the Filipino people.”
