FDA Monitors Recall Of Select Nestle Infant Formula Products
FILE
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has assured the public that it is closely monitoring and validating the voluntary recall initiated by Nestlé Philippines involving selected batches of NAN OPTIPRO and NANKID OPTIPRO infant formula products.
According to the FDA, the recall was carried out as a precaution after a potential safety and quality concern was identified involving a raw material sourced from one of the manufacturer’s suppliers. While there are currently no established food safety or regulatory limits covering the raw material in question, the agency said an in-depth investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the issue and assess any possible risks.
The FDA is working hand in hand with Nestlé Philippines to confirm the specific batches affected and to ensure that all recalled products are swiftly removed from both physical stores and online selling platforms. Authorities are also checking distribution records and communication efforts to make sure the recall is properly enforced throughout the supply chain.
So far, the FDA said it has not received any reports of illness or adverse reactions linked to the recalled products. Despite this, the agency stressed that it fully supports the precautionary recall, citing the importance of protecting public health—especially infants and young children.
Consumers are being advised to carefully check the batch numbers of the products they have at home, stop using any affected items immediately, and strictly follow the recall instructions issued by the manufacturer. The FDA added that an official advisory will soon be released to provide clearer guidance and updates for the public.
The agency said it will continue its post-market surveillance, inspections, and product assessments to ensure that all health products in the market meet safety and quality standards. Any significant developments will be disclosed promptly in the interest of transparency and consumer protection.
The FDA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that all regulated products available to consumers are safe, high-quality, and compliant with existing laws and regulations.
