In a candid interview on Anthony Taberna's "Tune In Kay Tunying" show, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos broke her silence regarding recent events involving Vice President Sara Duterte. The conversation delved into the aftermath of a Bagong Lipunan rally where tensions seemed to escalate.

When asked about her relationship with VP Sara Duterte, Mrs. Marcos expressed her disappointment over recent events. "How are we? I was always kind to her," she began, recounting an incident at a Bagong Lipunan rally convened by her husband, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. "When Bong had that Bagong Lipunan Rally, she came, and my husband, that was supposed to be December... to start the new year, Bagong Pilipinas... But she went there at 3 pm, and then she went to Davao."

Mrs. Marcos then recounted an incident where President Rodrigo Duterte reportedly referred to President Bongbong Marcos as "Bangag" (meaning intoxicated) during a public event, with VP Sara Duterte allegedly laughing in response. Mrs. Marcos expressed her dismay at the behavior, stating, "Imagine a former president calling 'Bangag,' and then the camera panned to her... I mean, masakit yan (that hurts)."

Addressing the lack of apology from VP Duterte, Mrs. Marcos emphasized, "Bad shot na 'yan sa akin, unless she says sorry... She crossed the line." Despite the hurt caused by the incident, Mrs. Marcos clarified that reconciliation was still possible, but it would require an apology from VP Duterte.

Reflecting on the incident, she questioned the appropriateness of VP Duterte's actions, particularly given her position in the government. "You’re getting suweldo (salary) from the government, you are supposed to be the alter ego," Mrs. Marcos remarked, highlighting the responsibility that comes with holding public office.

The First Lady emphasized the significance of respect and proper conduct in politics. "My husband will do everything to protect you. You ran together, ‘di ba, sama-sama tayo babangon muli (we will rise together again). Pupunta ka sa rally, tawagan 'yung presidente mong bangag, ‘di ba? Tama ba yan? (You go to a rally, and your president is called intoxicated, isn't that right?) Even Leni never did that," she stated, drawing a distinction between political disagreements and personal attacks.
