General Brawner Commends Bravery Of Wounded Soldiers From 6th Infantry Division

Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff of the (CSAFP) General Romeo Brawner Jr. lauded the courage of seven wounded soldiers from the 6th Infantry Division for their valor during a skirmish with members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) Karialan Faction on April 24, 2024, in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur province.

In a ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo, General Brawner Jr. praised the personnel of the 6th Infantry Division for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace and security in the region. He reassured them of the AFP's steadfast support and committed to providing the best possible medical care and assistance for their recovery.

Troops from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, supported by elements from the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion, successfully neutralized the highest-ranking leader of the BIFF - Karialan Faction, Mohiden Animbang, alias Karialan, along with 11 of his followers, during a series of engagements on April 22 in Sitio Pendililang, Kitango, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.

Expressing optimism for the cessation of violence in Mindanao, General Brawner Jr. emphasized the AFP's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the Filipino people and upholding national integrity.

In a related development, Brig. Gen. Jose Vladimir Cagara, Commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, confirmed the elimination of key BIFF-KF figures and the recovery of a cache of weapons, including various firearms.

While seven soldiers sustained injuries during the operation, Major General Alex S. Rillera PA, leader of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, hailed their bravery in defending the nation against terrorist threats, marking a significant triumph in the campaign against extremism in the region.
