Good News At The Pump: Oil Prices Set To Drop This Week
FILE
Heads up, motorists and consumers — there’s some relief coming your way at the pump starting Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Oil companies like Caltex, Seaoil, and Shell have announced that they’ll be rolling back fuel prices this week. Gasoline will go down by P0.55 per liter, while diesel gets a P0.65/liter cut. Kerosene users, you’re not left out — expect a P0.90/liter rollback. And yes, other fuel players are expected to follow suit.

This price drop comes after two straight weeks of fuel price hikes, so it’s definitely a welcome breather. According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the rollback was largely influenced by an oversupply in the global oil market — meaning, more supply = lower prices.

But let’s not forget the bigger picture. The DOE notes that for the year so far, gasoline and diesel still carry a net increase of P3.65 per liter, while kerosene has seen a slight net decrease of P1.10 per liter.

So while it’s not a major rollback, it’s still a bit of a break for your wallets. Keep an eye on those gas stations come Tuesday.
