The spirit of Christmas came alive in Nueva Ecija as the Embassy of Israel in Manila joined the Shalom Club Nueva Ecija Chapter for their annual holiday outreach, bringing food, gifts, and smiles to young learners just in time for the season.

The activity, titled “Ngayong Pasko, Salo Tayo,” is a yearly tradition that shares simple Christmas meals and joy with children from public schools and indigenous communities across the province. This year’s outreach was made possible through the support of the Makati Medical Center Foundation, which provided toys and hygiene kits, and the Nueva Ecija Seed-Grower Multi-Purpose Cooperative, whose generosity helped make the celebration possible.

Deputy Ambassador Ester Buzgan personally traveled to Nueva Ecija to lead the turnover of donations and spend time with the children. The festive atmosphere was further heightened by the appearance of the Jollibee mascot, who entertained students with energetic dances and playful interactions that filled the school grounds with laughter.

This year’s beneficiaries were the students of Mabini Elementary School in Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija. Though a small school with 157 learners, it is known for its dedicated teachers and nurturing environment. The celebration was held under the trees of the schoolyard and in the covered court, where the warmth of the community was felt throughout the day.

In her remarks, Deputy Ambassador Buzgan thanked everyone involved in the initiative and emphasized the importance of education and community support. She paid tribute to local farmers, saying, “The farmers are our heroes. They work tirelessly to feed our communities and help our children grow strong.”

She also shared a message of hope for the children, adding, “Children are like little seedlings. We need to nourish them with love, care, and the right tools so they can study well, grow, and reach their full potential.” This belief, she explained, inspired the Embassy’s donation of a television, sound system, and projector to help improve the school’s learning environment.

Expressing her gratitude to the community, she said, “Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. This is all for you.”

Deputy Ambassador Buzgan personally distributed gifts to the students alongside Municipal Administrator and former Mayor Imee de Guzman, and Shalom Club–Nueva Ecija Chapter President Lorna Mae Vero. The Embassy’s donations included food, toys, school supplies, hygiene kits, and educational equipment, reflecting its commitment to supporting children and strengthening community ties.

The outreach highlighted that diplomacy extends beyond formal engagements—it can be found in shared meals, children’s laughter, and acts of kindness. Through this Christmas initiative, the Embassy of Israel reaffirmed its dedication to fostering friendship, hope, and shared blessings with Filipino communities.
