Filipino theater icon Lea Salonga is adding another milestone to her already illustrious career. The Tony Award-winning performer has been named one of the honorees in the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2025–2026 — making her the first Filipina, and only the fourth person of Filipino descent, to receive a star on the world-famous landmark.
The announcement, made by Ovation Hollywood on July 2, revealed Salonga as one of two honorees in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category, alongside actor and stand-up comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias.
Salonga joins a short but distinguished list of Filipino heritage honorees who already have stars on the Walk of Fame, including her fellow The Voice of the Philippines coach and Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap, actor-comedian Rob Schneider, and Grammy-winning singer Bruno Mars.
In a post on Instagram, Salonga expressed her gratitude, saying: “To the Manila International Film Fest, many thanks for nominating me to be part of the Class of 2025–2026!”
Honorees on the Walk of Fame are selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, based on professional achievements, longevity of at least five years in their category, contributions to the community, and the commitment to attend the star unveiling ceremony.
Salonga, beloved worldwide for her work on Broadway and as the singing voice of Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan, will join fellow Class of 2025–2026 names including Miley Cyrus, Air Supply, and Josh Groban.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame, established in 1960, remains one of Los Angeles’ most iconic attractions, stretching along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. It celebrates excellence in motion pictures, television, music, radio, live theater/performance, and sports entertainment.
The exact date of Salonga’s star unveiling has yet to be announced. Honorees have up to two years from their selection to schedule the ceremony.
For Filipino fans and theater lovers alike, Salonga’s honor is more than just a personal achievement — it’s a proud moment of representation on one of the most famous sidewalks in the world.
