As of 8:00 AM today, June 9, 2025, state weather bureau DOST-PAGASA is closely monitoring a Low Pressure Area (LPA), tagged as LPA 6a, located within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The system currently has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Based on the latest advisory issued at 4:00 AM, the LPA was last spotted approximately 275 kilometers northwest of Baler, Aurora, or 215 kilometers west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union. It is also enhancing the effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), bringing rains to several parts of the country.

Residents in the Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet should prepare for cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms directly caused by the LPA. PAGASA has warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, areas such as Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique are expected to experience occasional rains brought by the monsoon. Similar flood and landslide threats are also present in these regions.

Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, and the rest of Visayas may also see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the day due to the monsoon’s influence.

In Mindanao, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also linked to the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Luzon may encounter similar conditions due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA continues to urge the public, especially those in low-lying and mountainous areas, to remain alert for possible hazards. Everyone is advised to monitor updates through official PAGASA channels as the LPA’s development is still being closely observed.
