Luxury Cars Seized As LTO Tightens The Screws
Screengrab from LTO
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) just revealed that out of 39 vehicles they impounded last week, 30 were luxury rides—yes, including Mustangs, Porsches, and BMWs.

These unregistered high-end vehicles were spotted in different parts of Metro Manila, and the LTO is now coordinating with the Bureau of Customs to trace their origins.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said the violations were clear: either the cars weren’t registered or the drivers didn’t have licenses.

“We found that these vehicles are not registered or the drivers have no licenses,” Lacanilao said in a video posted on the LTO’s social media page.

But Lacanilao stressed that the agency isn't targeting luxury cars specifically—rules apply to everyone.

“Whether vans or SUVs are involved, we would apprehend as long as a violation is committed,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported a strong November campaign against colorum operations. A total of 24 illegal vehicles—including nine buses and 13 unregistered vans—were impounded, racking up ₱11.8 million worth of penalties.

DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the crackdown follows President Marcos’ directive to send a strong message that there’s zero tolerance for transport lawlessness.

In a statement, the DOTr emphasized that the numbers reflect more than just enforcement—they show a government working to keep commuters safe.

“This is more than just a list of numbers; it is a testament to a committed government actively working to shield its citizens from the dangers of unregulated transport,” the agency said.

From luxury wheels to colorum rides—authorities say the message is the same: follow the rules or face the consequences.
