MABINAY, Negros Oriental — The municipality of Mabinay has taken another step toward cashless transactions with the official launch of Paleng-QR Ph Plus, a program designed to expand the use of QR Ph payments in public markets, public transportation, and local businesses.

The initiative aims to make sending and receiving payments easier, faster, and more secure by allowing consumers and merchants to transact using QR codes through their mobile devices.

During the launch, Mabinay Mayor Ernie T. Uy and BSP Dumaguete Area Director Atty. Janice Jade V. Tan-Canonigo demonstrated the system by paying for food purchases using QR Ph, highlighting the convenience and practicality of digital payments in everyday transactions.

The launch event was held on December 12, 2025, at the Mabinay Hotel–Terminal Complex in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, and was attended by local stakeholders, including market vendors and transport operators, who were introduced to the benefits of adopting cashless payment solutions.

With the rollout of Paleng-QR Ph Plus, Mabinay joins the growing number of local government units embracing digital finance, supporting broader efforts to promote financial inclusion and modernize payment systems across the country.
