Makati Firm In Hot Water? Zambales Rep Wants Probe, Boycott Over Alleged Pro-China Ties

Zambales Representative Jefferson Khonghun isn’t holding back. The chairman of the House Special Committee on Bases Conversion is sounding the alarm over a Makati-based company that’s allegedly cozying up with the Chinese government—and he wants it investigated, fast.

In a strongly worded statement on Friday, Khonghun urged the Department of Justice and other concerned agencies to look into Infinitus Marketing Solutions, which was reportedly contracted to promote China’s narrative. According to Khonghun, if the company is working against the country’s national interest, it could very well be breaking the law.

“There must be a violation somewhere in our laws for a Filipino company—or one operating here—to side with a foreign power that has been aggressive toward us,” Khonghun said.

He didn’t stop there. Khonghun called on fellow Filipinos to boycott the firm entirely. “Businesses making money here in the Philippines shouldn’t be pushing Chinese propaganda,” he added.

This call to action follows revelations from Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino during a recent hearing. Tolentino, who’s gunning for reelection under the administration’s Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, exposed the alleged contract involving Chinese-funded “keyboard warriors” tasked with promoting pro-China content and smearing the current administration.

Even the National Security Council is taking notice. Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya confirmed that they’ve spotted indicators of Chinese funding behind certain candidates running in the upcoming May 12 elections.

That’s a big red flag for Khonghun.

“Let’s not support pro-China candidates,” he warned. “Many of them are aligned with the previous administration of former President Duterte, who was known for cozying up to Beijing despite their aggressive actions in the West Philippine Sea.”

Instead, he threw his full support behind President Marcos Jr.’s senatorial slate, “Team Pinas,” saying they’re the ones committed to defending the country’s sovereignty.

Khonghun didn’t mince words when quoting the President’s message to voters: “Wala sa kanila ang mga pumapalakpak sa Tsina at natutuwa pa kapag tayo ay binobomba ng tubig… at inaagaw ang ating mga isla.”

Strong words. And as election day nears, they’re bound to stir even stronger reactions.
