Residents in several cities and towns across the country can look forward to a well-deserved pause this December as Malacañang announced a series of special non-working days for local celebrations and milestones.

Under Proclamation Nos. 1099 and 1101, the Palace has approved special non-working days in General Trias, Cavite on December 12, and San Pedro, Laguna on December 29. These dates mark each city’s milestone anniversaries—General Trias celebrating its 10th year as a city, and San Pedro marking its 12th.

Bulacan and La Union will also join the festivities. Proclamation No. 1098 declares December 10 a special non-working day in Meycauayan City for its founding anniversary, while Aringay, La Union gets its own celebration day on December 13 under Proclamation No. 1100.

Proclamation Nos. 1098 and 1099 were signed by Acting Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto on November 26, with Proclamation Nos. 1100 and 1101 following a day later.

Residents in Batangas and Occidental Mindoro will likewise have a chance to gather and honor their local history. President Marcos, through Proclamation 1102, set December 16, 2025 as a special non-working day in Calatagan, Batangas for its founding anniversary. Meanwhile, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro will have December 15, 2025 off to commemorate the 81st Liberation Day of Mindoro Island from Japanese occupation, as declared under Proclamation 1103.

“It is fitting and proper for the people of the municipalities of Calatagan and San Jose to be given the opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the proclamations read.

With these new holidays, communities across the country will have the chance not only to rest, but also to reconnect, celebrate their roots, and take pride in their local heritage.
