In response to an alarming forecast predicting a scorching heat index of 44°C, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan has taken decisive action to safeguard the well-being of students and educators. The suspension of face-to-face classes for both public and private schools across all levels has been declared for Thursday and Friday, April 25 and 26, 2024.

This preemptive measure comes as a proactive step to mitigate potential health risks posed by the extreme heat, as highlighted by the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office. With the safety of the community at the forefront, Mayor Lacuna-Pangan emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare of students and faculty members.

Acknowledging the significance of uninterrupted learning amidst challenging circumstances, schools have been advised to transition to asynchronous classes during the suspension period. This alternative mode of instruction ensures that educational activities can proceed without exposing individuals to the hazardous weather conditions.
