Marcos Appoints Torre As MMDA General Manager

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III as the new General Manager of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Palace confirmed on Friday. Torre replaces Procopio Lipana in the post.
Torre was relieved as PNP chief in August 2025, shortly after assuming the position, without a detailed explanation from Malacañang. Despite his exit from the police leadership, President Marcos has now tapped him to head the MMDA’s day-to-day operations.
