Marcos Turns Down Resignation Offers From Key Cabinet Secretaries
FILE
In a move that reaffirmed his trust in his core team, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has officially declined the courtesy resignations submitted by three of his top officials: Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro.
The announcement came straight from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin during a press briefing this Thursday, May 29. According to Bersamin, the President saw no reason to let go of the three Cabinet members, indicating his continued confidence in their leadership and performance.
Courtesy resignations are typically offered by government officials to give the President the option to reorganize or make changes within the administration without any political awkwardness. But in this case, Marcos Jr. made it clear—he wants these men to stay on board.
The Remulla brothers, both seasoned in their respective roles in justice and local governance, remain significant players in Marcos’ administration. Gilberto Teodoro, a seasoned defense strategist and former defense chief under a previous administration, will also stay at the helm of national security efforts.
This move signals stability within the President’s inner circle, especially at a time when questions around leadership shifts and political dynamics continue to circulate. For now, it looks like the President is sticking with his current roster.
