Classes became a little brighter in Calatagan, Batangas after One Meralco Foundation, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, rolled out a heartwarming back-to-school drive for young learners.
With the help of volunteers from Meralco’s Internal Audit team, the foundation distributed school kits to pupils of Angelita Zobel Elementary School. The activity was led by Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Audit Executive Melanie T. Oteyza, alongside Calatagan Mayor Rico B. Puno.
Students from kindergarten and special needs education were among the beneficiaries, receiving school kits filled with essentials — including books donated by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation and the National Book Store Foundation, Inc.
For Oteyza, the effort goes beyond notebooks and pencils. “This is more than a simple distribution of school supplies—it is a message of hope and confidence that a brighter future awaits our children,” she said.
The initiative is part of One Meralco Foundation’s Balik Eskwela project, which has reached over 7,000 students from 82 public schools this year alone — reaffirming Meralco’s commitment to helping Filipino learners start the school year ready, inspired, and hopeful.
