In its ongoing mission to deliver safe, stable, and reliable electricity, the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by business leader Manuel V. Pangilinan, has taken another significant step in improving service quality for its customers in Bulacan. The company recently completed a major upgrade at its Duhat Substation in Bocaue, replacing a power transformer that has been in service for over four decades.

The newly installed 300 megavolt amperes (MVA), 220 kilovolt (kV) – 115 kV transformer, equipped with an on-load tap changer, is designed to enhance power quality and support the growing energy needs of key areas including Sta. Maria, Bocaue, Balagtas, Meycauayan, Obando, and Marilao.

This upgrade is more than just a replacement — it’s a critical move to ensure that Meralco can meet the increasing demand for electricity, especially in areas experiencing rapid growth. The new transformer will support major facilities such as the Philippine Arena, Hightension Steel, Joni Villanueva General Hospital, Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital, and SM City Marilao, as well as various municipal and city government centers.
