In response to recent reports circulating on social media regarding bed bug infestations in certain seating areas at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 2 and 3, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has issued a statement and initiated immediate actions to address the concerns.

MIAA General Manager Eric Ines promptly directed Terminal Managers to investigate the matter thoroughly and submit a comprehensive report within 24 hours. The report is expected to detail the circumstances surrounding the incidents and propose corrective actions to resolve the issue. Additionally, a directive was issued for extensive facility inspections and an enhancement of sanitation measures throughout the airport.

Expressing regret for the inconvenience caused, the MIAA apologizes to the affected individuals and assures them that a swift resolution is underway. Following the investigation, it was confirmed that the terminals received complaints, and two individuals who reported bed bug bites received medical assistance from MIAA medical teams.

To address the problem, the MIAA has permanently removed the seats identified in the reports. Furthermore, disinfection schedules are set to continue to ensure a clean and safe environment for passengers. The MIAA emphasizes its commitment to the well-being of travelers and pledges to take all necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
