Michelle Cobb is officially hanging up her jersey.

At just 26 years old, the veteran setter of the Akari Chargers announced her retirement from professional volleyball, marking the end of a career filled with heart, hustle, and leadership. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Wednesday night, Cobb said goodbye to her playing days in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) after three seasons.

“Volleyball has been a huge part of my life,” she wrote. “It’s where I found confidence, built lifelong friendships, and learned to push myself, win with pride, and lose with grace.”

While her days on the court are over, Cobb made it clear that this isn’t a full goodbye. She’ll be staying on with Akari — this time from the sidelines — as an assistant team manager and setting coach.

“After years of love and dedication to the game, I’ve decided to close this chapter,” Cobb said. “I’m retiring with a grateful heart, proud of everything this journey has given me. To everyone who’s been part of this journey, thank you for being family. Love you all so much! Maraming salamat po.”

She added, “This isn’t the end — just a new chapter, written with the same heart that played every point.”

Before going pro, Cobb made her mark with De La Salle University in the UAAP, helping the Lady Spikers clinch back-to-back championships in Seasons 79 and 80. Her transition to the PVL in 2022 saw her take on an even bigger leadership role with the then-young Akari Chargers. As team captain and starting setter, Cobb helped shape the identity of the franchise, leading them to a silver finish in the 2024 Reinforced Conference and a bronze in the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference.

Her impact wasn’t just in the numbers — Cobb became the emotional anchor of the team, a player who led by example both in playmaking and in poise.
