In a recent revelation by Congressman Erwin Tulfo, it has come to light that in addition to the Captain’s Peak Resort, two more resorts, Sagbayan Peak and La Batiang Resort, have been established within the iconic Chocolate Hills area. Tulfo expressed concerns over the increasing development in the region, emphasizing the need for conservation efforts.

Gretchen Ho meanwhile shared insights from Julieta Sablas, the manager of Captain’s Peak Resort, shedding light on the situation. Sablas disclosed that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Protected Area Management Board (DENR-PAMB) had investigated the resorts last year, finding them compliant with only "20%" of the structures permitted on the hills.

Sablas emphasized the resort's commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the Chocolate Hills, stating that they only utilize a small portion of the land and ensure the protection of the hills' core. She explained that while some structures are located on the hillsides, the resort owners are mindful of the environmental impact and pay taxes annually for their properties.
